File Galleries allow on-line repositories of individual files of any document type to be created and shared amongst the group. You can create as many Galleries as you need and create hierarchical structures to help to make the files more accessible.

The simple Demo File Gallery illustrated below is an example that you can explore for yourself from the File Galleries menu item on the left once you are logged in using the id/password of testuser/testuser.

If you then click on the Name of the individual Gallery it is opened to show the files that are available, as shown in the example screen shot below.

As you can see for each file a small symbol shows what type of file it is (if it is one of the common type) and various parameters for the file are also shown, including a description that can be entered for the file when it is uploaded.

You can then open/save any of the individual files shown by clicking on either the Name or the Filename.

These facilities can be used for storing, in a structured/hierarchical manner, all the files associated with your One Name Study, keeping them safe as well as making them readily available across the wider research group. Each research group using these facilities should of course take due regard of any copyright restrictions that may apply to material that they store using the ONSshoebox, and it would be good practice for the group to develop and publish a policy for such matters.

If you have any questions or suggestions for using File galleries then please do post a comment in our Demo Feedback Forum which you can access once you login using the id/password of testuser/testuser.
